After completing medical graduation from his alma-mater King George Medical College, Lucknow in year 1973 and Post Graduation in General Surgery and Cardiovascular Surgery from Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 1979 and 1982 respectively, he never looked back in life.
Evolving Cardiovascular Surgery from active research to teaching, spanning more than three decades across both India and abroad, he nurtured many lives. Been a reputed postgraduate teacher in various institutions, he guided, supervised and trained more than 25 postgraduate doctors in obtaining the highest postdoctoral M.Ch. degree in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery. Engaging in quality research work in this field, he published more than 50 research papers in National & international journals.
His path breaking thoughts and activities have earned for him memberships to high level commissions, such as:

- Asian Society of Cardiovascular Surgeons,
- Indian Association of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeons,

Dr. A. K. Srivastava is a Herculean Cardiac Surgeon in Lucknow and has performed more than 20,000 Open Heart Surgeries during his academic career and continuing this journey since today. Besides his professional interest, he has been taking an active interest in philanthropic activities. While undergoing training in Heart-Lung Transplantation at Papworth Hospital at Cambridge U.K. in 1996, he was deeply influenced by the pattern & activities of the British Heart Foundation. After returning to India he established a similar foundation by name of ‘Divine Heart Foundation’ under the Society Registration Act, 1860, to create awareness among masses with regard to genesis, prevention, and treatment of heart diseases in the country.
His zeal to serve humanity with utmost sincerity at large has acted as a driving factor in making him a force to reckon with in both social and business circles. Lastly, as Professor and Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Dr. A. K. Srivastava served State Premier Medical Institute, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow from where he resigned in April 2002 and was completely devoted to attaining the mission of establishment of Divine Heart Hospital & Research Centre. Today, his journey is more than important as he has not only dedicated his life to the masses but plans to prosper by doing so in every secular section of society. Being the common man, he prospers with divinity to Save Hearts and Save Lives.
